David Misha Hochbaum
David Hochbaum (b. 1972) is an artist born in New York City and raised in the suburban area of Rockland County, just outside Manhattan. He left in 1990 to study at Boston’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts, where he focused on photography, painting, and sculpture. Upon returning to New York City in 1995, David quickly became part of the local art scene, establishing himself as a notable artist. His work has since been exhibited internationally, including in Japan, Germany, Italy, France, Denmark, the UK, Sweden, Switzerland, Chile, and across the United States.
David’s practice often explores themes of identity, memory, and the tension between natural and urban environments. Throughout his career, he has remained dedicated to fostering artistic communities, periodically hosting critique salons and organizing free workshops to support and promote fellow artists. Collaboration and community have always been key elements of his artistic philosophy.
David currently lives and works in New England with his wife, Juliet, while maintaining strong ties to the New York and European art scenes.
